ENERGY EVALUATIONS
Overview
Energy evaluations or audits are often pursued by facilities as the first step to determine if potential energy savings can be discovered. These evaluations range from simple one day walk-through audits to see if potential savings exist, to comprehensive evaluations that include equipment testing, system modeling, and detailed reports.
Benefits
Our experience performing facility energy evaluations across the U.S. and in Canada has helped us develop system modeling tools and practical energy saving strategies that work. The savings identified in our comprehensive energy evaluations are usually much higher than anticipated by facility staff. Savings in the 20% to 30% range are common for most facilities.
Service Details
Process Energy Services has
adopted the practice of performing the majority of our calculations and
analysis on Excel spreadsheets and easy to use U.S. Department of Energy
Software Programs. As part of our evaluation services, our report and
calculations are included on a CD with the evaluation. This helps our
clients achieve a higher level of expertise and self-sufficiency as
projects are developed. A comprehensive facility or system energy evaluation incorporates all the elements needed to develop a detailed plan to reduce facility energy costs. Typically, this includes the following services:
-
Development of an energy plan -
Process analysis of
systems/facilities -
Detailed process data collection -
Equipment efficiency testing -
Development of energy
conservation measures (energy saving projects), energy supply measures
(alternative energy suppliers or sources), and operational measures
(low-cost operational improvements) -
Life cycle cost analysis of all
recommended improvements If a facility is interested in alternative project delivery methods or needs help financing the proposed projects, an implementation plan can also be performed as part of the evaluation. This typically includes the following: -
Evaluating project delivery
options (effectively using in-house resources, design-build,
design-bid-build, performance contracting) -
Configuring the report to obtain
utility incentives and rebates -
Developing a financing plan that
includes: §
Cash flow analysis §
Financing options §
Financing proposals -
Development of work package
RFP’s -
Creating a monitoring and savings
verification plan -
Provide sample construction and
savings guarantee contracts Pricing
Energy evaluations are usually done on a fixed fee basis. We would be pleased to work with you to develop a scope of work and cost estimate.
